The Scottsdale Cal Ripken (SCR) baseball league scholarship program was established to assist with financial hardship. Scottsdale Cal Ripken is dedicated to providing a program that will allow every child to play baseball. Our mission is to offer an affordable program for our community while maintaining the financial health and sustainability of the league.

For players that are granted a scholarship, league fees for the requested season will be paid partially or fully by Scottsdale Cal Ripken. Please note, scholarships are not permanent or automatically renewed. Scholarships must be applied for at the beginning of every season and will expire at the end of each season.

Full or partial scholarships may be available on a limited basis determined by the league's budget, sponsorships received and the overall number of registrations. Since scholarships are offered on a limited basis, please do not apply for a scholarship if you have the ability to pay.

A scholarship may be requested for each child in a family experiencing financial hardship. The Executive Board will determine if full or partial scholarships will be awarded based on the information provided in the application.

To be eligible for a scholarship, a scholarship application must be filled out in its entirety and submitted to SCR Executive Board for review and approval. Application and applicant information will be kept completely confidential and only be reviewed by the Executive Board members.

All families applying for a scholarship acknowledge that the SCR league is run by volunteers. It is expected that parents/guardians of scholarship recipients will give back to the Scottsdale Cal Ripken league by volunteering four or more hours during the season.

Examples of volunteer opportunities include:

  • Opening Day
  • Picture Day
  • All Star Tryouts
  • Playoff Field Set Up
  • All Star Field Set Up
  • Equipment Hand Out
  • Equipment Return
  • Uniform Hand Out
  • Obtaining Sponsorships for the League

Prior to submitting the scholarship application to SCR, parents and/or guardians should understand the following: • Application form must be filled out in its entirety

  • Full or partial scholarships may be available on a limited basis
  • Scholarships are not permanent or automatically renewed and will expire at the end of each season
  • Volunteer obligation requirement of 4 or more hours

Please reach out to the SCR Executive Board for the current volunteer opportunities and for any questions. Failure to uphold volunteer obligations may result in disqualification in future Scottsdale Cal Ripken scholarships.
